Long, long ago in an internet far away (roughly a year ago) it was relatively simple to rank your site’s webpages in the search engine results. All that you had to do was optimize your pages, have good, original content, and to gather a vast number of backlinks…
Ahh, the good ‘ol days.
But no longer… Google has upped the ante, and in addition to making sure we’re still managing to achieve the majority of required optimization for our websites, we are now expected to have a viable and thriving social media presence as well! What this means is complete social profiles, daily posts, and regular engagement and interaction with your followers.
So just how do we create these “social signals”?
Business owners are already short on time, now you’re supposed to up our social media presence? Listed below are three easy methods for you to quickly increase customer engagement, increase your audience, and boost word of mouth about your business.
- Utilize visual media – However you slice it, most people now would prefer to watch rather than read. Whether we are pushed to this by time constraints or the fact that it’s simply easier, that is the state of society nowadays. Backing that up, Facebook reports that pics and vids attract 53 percent more likes than text alone.
- Make sure to post later in the day – Engagement by means of liking, sharing and following, is far more likely to occur later in the day or early evening, according to research from social media expert Dan Zarrella. If you post early in the day, as you’re getting going, make sure to check back later. It will pay off!
- Be quick on the draw – Don’t leave people hanging! They are trying to engage with you, so make it a normal practice to respond to comments, tweets and status updates as soon as you can.
